If you want a unique location with an interesting backstory, then a wedding at the Ca’ d’Zan in Sarasota is the place for you! Inside and out it is a feast for the senses, with beautiful views on the water outside and architectural interest inside. We never get tired of planning events at this location.
Most of you have probably heard the phrase “The Greatest Show on Earth”. John Ringling was one of five brothers that owned and operated the The Ringling Brothers Circus in the early 1900’s. John and his wife Mable built this house in 1924-1926 in the fashion of the Venetian Gothic style of the palazzi in Venice, Italy.
The entire property has been completely restored inside and out in the original fashion it was intended and even still has much of the original furniture originally purchased by Mable herself! There are up to 10 different areas of the house and property in which to hold a wedding, meaning there is something for everyone here.
We’ve included a few of our favorite weddings here at the Ca’ d’Zan which, by the way, means “House of John”, in the Venitian dialect.
The Terrace of Ca’ d’Zan
One of the most popular ceremony locations and it’s not hard to see why. The dramatic architecture with the huge doorway on top of the stairs, it’s hard to beat!
The Belvedere Tower
This amazing tower boasts some of the most stunning photos any wedding could ask for. Even if you don’t have your ceremony here (it’s only a 7 person capacity), it’s always a must-have photo for the bride and groom after the ceremony.
Museum of Art Courtyard
If you’re looking for a dramatic outdoor space that makes you feel as if you’re walking around a palace courtyard then the Museum of Art Courtyard is your perfect place! This huge space can accommodate any reception configuration you can imagine.
Mable Ringley’s Rose Garden
For all the flower lovers out there the Ca’ d’Zan boasts an amazing rose garden. It’s perfect for a more intimate wedding of 50 guests or less as you are surrounded by exquisite rose bushes of various colors.
Historic Circus Galleries
The art galleries and interior areas of the house are the perfect places for those first look photos! With all the color and drama, they provide the perfect backdrop with no additional accessories needed.
Beneath the Banyans
If outside drama is more your style the area under the Banyan Trees will amaze you. These trees are the perfect canopy for any of your bridal party pictures or fun first looks.
The Bolger Campiello
A sunset ceremony or reception can also be accommodated. The Bolger Campiello area is right on the water providing stunning waterfront views at any time of day but is especially special with the spectacular Florida sunsets.
